During last night's Germany V USA game, when Germany were 3-0 up, the Sky commentator said "three goals isn't that many these days, considering the score in the cup last night." He then paused and said, "oh, I probably shouldn't have mentioned that to you". His co-commentator, one Trevor Francis, then treated us to ten seconds of the frostiest silence ever heard on TV. |

I saw the Arse beat us 6-1 at the Riverside. I left after the 6 one went and and missed our goal. Still, the result that sticks in my mind the most was getting beat 2-1 by Dearlington in a FA Cup 3rd round replay. Not only was it a terrible result but I ended up in the home fans end on my own.

I was in Manchester (but not at the game) the day United beat us 8-1 - i'd heard 1-1 latest only to get back to a friends house to discover the full scale of the disaster (Dwight Yorke came on for the last ten minutes and scored four or something like that). Especially galling was many not normally United fans making hilarious "ate one" references all evening. Was round my friends house in Kippax St watching the 5-1 on telly (unless it was an earlier 4-1, not q sure) - a bit of a surreal experience seeing the goals go in then a couple of beats later the windows nearly coming in with the roar. |
