An expert writes ... probably best NOT to have any really clever opening lines, they can misfire badly and you can find yourself discovering just how long the 170 remaining seconds of speeddate can seem. I have been at events where men (but amazingly never a woman - even when the unmistakable tang of severe BO has been in evidence ) have got up mid date and headed for the bar! She really, really, doesn't want that to happen. Anyway, what you say only forms 15% of 'making an impression'. Body language and , to a lesser extent, HOW you say things make up the other 85%. So nice friendly smile (to everyone) and NO getting caught looking people up and down are the rules. Sorry, that didnt meet the amusing calibre of response usually posted but thought it best to be helpfully practical. (Honey's mate) ps she could always mention how many times she's been mistaken for Nicole Kidman (and/or Bonnie Langford / Tango man) if the conversation palls |

Thanks to all but especially SpeedQueen (nice double meaning). Twisted - how do you know that website? Only Utd fans need help getting dates. Cavey - your intervention is again wonderful but insane. I will place it in an envelope marked "for use only in desperation when he's walking away from the table". I'll try and suggest a lookalike for her - Julianne Moore might be the closest. If anyone is in Clerkenwell tonight, look out for a ginger woman in a green/white top looking an interesting bronze colour - 'cause her mate is an absolute stunner! |
