It's Folk Britannia at the Barbican, coinciding with BBC4's folk season of the same name. Some very good artists in there, nice mixture of classic and contemporary. Anyone else going to any of these? Mr Anarchy? Thursday 2rd February - Whose Side Are You On? 7:30pm Billy Bragg and Martin Carthy, Dick Vaughn, Donovan, Andy Irvin, Neill & Callum MacCol, Karine Polwart, Robb Johnson, Maggie Holland Friday 3rd February - Daughters of Albion. 7:30pm June Tabor, Eliza Carthy, Kathryn Williams, Norma Waterson, Sheila Chandra & Lou Rhodes Saturday 4th February - Folk Freestage. 2:00pm - FREE Tunng, Pictish Trail, Geoff Maldaur, 18th Day of May Saturday 4th February - Joe Boyd & Friends. 4.00pm - FREE Legendary producer talks about his work and his new book. Saturday 4th February - Into The Mystic Vashti Bunyan, Bert Jansch, Adem, Mike Heron, Currituck Co, Vetiver, King Creosote, Max Richter Plus a couple of interesting film in the Barbican cinemas, including one on the life and songs of Shane MacGowan. www.barbican.org.uk |
