Judging by the c86 thread some others do buy this, great issue this month though. Article on van der graff generator, don't think I have heard anything by them but am intrigued now, any suggestions where to start if at all? The cd is pretty good too, think I'll be buying some cd's as a result. Isobel campbell (who is playing solo gig at Bush Hall) and Mark Lanegan duet is great and new Belle and Sebastian sounds pretty good too. Even like the plan b song and will now have to get into the television personalities and neko case as I have threatened to for a while. |

I am Mojo reader normally and their CD's are generally of high quality. I was tipped off regarding the C86 article. Was thumbing through Uncut on the bus and was uninspired by it to be honest. |

It used to be loads better, seems to have fallen into the dylan/beatles/stones trap and is very biased to americana but I think its prob the best of a not that great bunch. I subscribe to q (more and more mainstream every issue), mojo (like it but not enough new acts mentioned in it for my liking) and uncut and would probably cancel all 3 but always forget to and then see the dd coming out of my account. ![]() |

i like mojo and uncut in theorybut get tired of their backward looking obsession with classic rock. i know that's what mojo is all about but i'm just saying i find it really irritating after a few issues. the last couple of years of covers look something like: dylan/bowie/beatles/stones/dylan/zep/beatles/dylan/iggy/dylan/dylan/uk punk/beatles/bowie/dylan/new york punk/springsteen/dylan/doors/hendrix/beatles and dylan. proabably and what's up with fukken waterboys/warren zevon/paul westerberg gruff middle aged acoustic rock-lite stuff they keep trying to foist on everybody? having said that, some of their cds are pretty good. especially the artist compiled ones that uncut did a while back. percy plant and *ahem* the eric clapton one were surprisingly good. as was the *AHEM* music that inspired dylan one. |
