I noticed the criminally under-rated Servant doing the track on the dvd advert for Sin City and the superb Chi-Lites on the advert for some mobile phone or another. |

what WOULD you guys advertise though? you know those cillit bang ads where that guy shouts "BAAAANG!" a lot. well i noticed the other day that the very first thing the guys says, or rather yells, by way of introduction is: "YEEEEEEEES! I'M BARY SCOTT!" or whatever his name is. i wouldn't advertise cillit bang but i think i'm going to introduce myself that way from now on. yup, adverts are shitty. i'm really not interested in anything i see advertised on the telly to be honest. cars (don't have one), ringtones (ring ring still works fine for me thanks), phones (had the same one for over 10 years), banks (grrrr), clothes (when something wears out i replace it and i have the same 2 favourite shirts i found in a bag in a basement when i was at uni 9 years ago) even my bicycle is 35 years old. you get the idea. i just don't care. i find it hard to get angry about them though. i really only register the bad ones. and they just make me gape, cringe and laugh. you can stress yourself into an early grave with impotent anger against faceless forces like advertising. that may sound lazy and defeatist but hey! the people i know who get the most wound up about adverts work in tv or advertising and have giant pulsing veins in their forheads and either are or should be in therapy. |
