Ok, time for the first poll on here (I don' know what I'm doing so it'll probably go titties up). Who in your opinion is the greatest soul artist EVER.

Actually Micky, you could have Noddy on comb and paper and Big Ears on a bum trumpet and they'd get more votes than Feck.

Are you saying Feck has no soul, Phil?

This thread is just a wind up for Mr Anarchy and his ludicrious hype of Comet Gain. They're ok, far from dislikable and have more going for them than any rap, nu-metal or any modern r&b (or UK garage or whatever it's called this week) artist. They just shouldn't ever be spoken in the same breath as SFTYSR era Dexys or any of the other artists above.

bloody traditionalist. Do you live in Paul Weller's Prince-of-Wales-check coffin? If you took off yer rose tinted granny glasses you'd see that CG have soul and are fit to be mentioned in the same breath as Dexy's and the like. In 5 years you'll still be doing your electrified emu dance and saying "yeah, I saw them down the Arts Cafe so many times and I shook my not insubstantial booty to them each time. Now spread some more talc on the dancefloor, soul bro".

erm, at last. I'll adopt the 'Tony Tourette defence' and say I was very, very drunk.

As well as JB, we didn't include Sam Cooke, James Carr (my vote really goes to him), Levi Stubbs, Mick Hucknell....erm, keyboard malfunction...
