according to Readers Digest, which has an average readers age of 73, is as follows: Victoria Wood Dawn French Jo Brand Jennifer Saunders Julie Walters Joyce Grenfell Hattie Jacques Joanna Lumley Maureen Lipman Kathy Burke in that order. No major complaints about the individuals selected though I have nominated some challengers, all of whom have equal claims: Such as Julia Davis... Catherine Tate... Jessica Stevenson... or any of the Smack the Pony cast... Mind you it does show how much women have such a far more prominent role in comedy these days, particularly on TV than was previously the case. |

Linda Smith's pretty funny. Caroline Aherne too on her day. The RD list - Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders have been stinking up our TV screens for way too long. Ditto for Sharon Tate (sorry - Catherine Tate, just wishful thinking), and she's only just started. And Meera Syal has become the new Caroline Quentin - production companies are under the impression that it's against the law to make a TV show without her. She is the female Roland Rivron and about as funny too. |
