Read this incredible article in the Guardian this morning which is science almost-fact. Scientists are already working on “chimera” (combinations of human and animal cells to produce things like man-stoats or giraffe-hamsters). This paragraph worried me most:

“what if human stem cells…were to be injected into an animal embryo and spread throughout the animal’s body into every organ? Some human cells could migrate to the testes and ovaries where they could grow into human sperm and eggs. If two of the chimeric mice were to mate, they could potentially conceive a human embryo. If the human embryo were to be removed and implanted in a human womb, the resultant human baby’s biological parents would have been mice.”

Aggh. Imagine introducing your human bride to your mouse parents? Or to a cat? Of course, maybe this has already happened – the Gallagher brothers mother was obiously fucked by a gorilla to produce those monobrowed misfits.

But it's been going on since time beganeth - it's just with every technological advancement Mr/Mrs mad scientist steps up one on the ladder - ask Mary Shelley, she'll tell you all over a cuppa and a slice of cake.
