i'm thinking of getting one (tasteful like, not a bulldog on my arse or anything) but i've two dilemmas:

1) how to find the exact image i want. i've a vague idea, but i can't draw for shit. and the internet hasn't been too much help either. this is the main thing stopping me getting one done!!

2) can anyone recommend a good tattoo artist in the london area?

being a music site, i'm pressuming there must be some tattooed fuckers out there? :D

There are 2 tattoos I want but I am not sure of the long-term.
I wanted one of the sigur ros logo from inside the booklet and another of hendrix.

The best bet ms. noodle is to buy a cd-rom off of ebay which literally has thousands and thouands of designs on it, when i looked they went for less than a fiver each

I've got two tatts, one of Stimpy the cat and the mygaymonkey logo, both done by George Bones of Hanwell, he's well respected in the business!

There's nothing wrong with a bulldog on the arse  ..well there's nothing wrong with my one...There used to be a guy in Portobello road who was a great tattoo artist - 'spiderweb face' I used to call him (er because he had a spiderweb tattoeed all over his face) He did the map of Ireland on my left breast and the 'Die Barbie die' words emblazoned across my heart...
Not sure if he's still about - i'm going back years now - make sure you really want to get it done though before you do it hon. :?

i've been thinking about a tattoo for bloody years, and have never done it because my tastes always change. and in truth, i think i was more enamoured with the idea of 'having a tattoo' rather than wanting anything specific.

this time though, it's more about wanting to mark the ending of a specific phase in my life, and the start of new one, if that doesn't sound too hippy bullshit. like i said, i kind of know what i want in my head, i just wish i could get that down on paper to take to a tattooist!

I've a brace too, the infamous mygaymonkey logo on my right shoulder, and the japanese for "9" on my left - both custom jobs done by the wonderful George Bones in Hanwell. Happy with both of mine, and judging by the ammount of buiness he does he must be good (have heard nothing but good things about him from everybody I know who has used him).
Thinking of a couple of more....maybe a Bender from Futurama on my lower leg or something tradionally Londonesque (not a pearly king before you say anything). I would certainly use him again without a second thought.

Be sure you want one though before you go, and have your design with you the size you want it to be on your body (be warned - they always look bigger on your body after you've got them). Don't think you'll go along and look through the catalogues and find something you'll like - I promise you won't, but if you do you'll be absolutely gutted when you see somebody with the identical tattoo as you and it looks so much better on their body (unless it's the MGM monkey on the side of your skinny bass players leg of course!).

So Bananas, no regrets that you didn't get tattoos for your previous band names: 'Ginger Whine' or 'Phenomenal Hair' ??

Ha! Thought of that! The MGM tattoo is just a logo with no name on it - so will still look cool even after I have dumped the others and gone off on my massive money-spinning world wide solo tour.....oops wasn't meant to type that out loud! :D

If you think those band names were bad, I'm definately not going to tell you about the bands you don't know about!

I think tattoos look cheap and ugly, (sorry), and that if you have to think what you want then it doesn't have that much significance to want it on your body permanently for the rest of your life! I'd never do it.

i guess tats are a bit like marmite. you either love 'em or you hate 'em!

i think the right tattoo in the right place - on either male or female - can be incredibly sexy.

that said, yes, some tattoos can look fuck awful. i'd never want to be tattooed on my arms because i figure come 50, i'd look like a right rough boiler. (ok, more of a rough boiler!)
