Attila The Stockbroker / Seagulls Ska version of ‘Tom Hark’ is currently No. 2 in the amazon.co.uk Hot Pre-Release Singles chart -
above Elvis, Cliff and Robbie Williams! Let’s knock Morrissey off No.1...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/tg/stores/static/-/music/amazon-preorder-chart-singles/ref%3Dts%5Fch%5F2%5F11/202-3510088-8687066

If you don’t know the story - Full story below!

BRIGHTON FANS RELEASE SINGLE IN SUPPORT OF OUR NEW STADIUM AT FALMER WITH
BACKING OF SPONSORS SKINT RECORDS

‘Tom Hark (We Want Falmer!)’ by SEAGULLS SKA
on Falmer For All Records
Distributed by VITAL
Please Pre-Order NOW from the online outlets below
Release Date Monday, January 3rd 2005
ALL PROFITS TO THE ALBION ALIVE & KICKING FUND

‘The whole thing’s daft
We don’t know why
We have to laugh
Or else we’ll cry
Our ground’s too small
The costs too high
Without Falmer
Our club will die’

Seven years since the Goldstone Ground was destroyed by uncaring moneymen, seven years of fans’ campaigns - and still Brighton & Hove Albion doesn’t have a proper home. So here’s another chapter in the story of the Albion supporters’ battle to save our club.....

A few weeks ago we had the idea of reclaiming the Piranhas’ national football ska hit ‘Tom Hark’ for Brighton with new lyrics in support of our stadium , with the dual aim of raising money for the Albion’s Alive & Kicking Fund and trying to take the Falmer For All Campaign into the Top 20 in the month before the Public Enquiry restarts! The Piranhas were Brighton through and through, in the forefront of the local punk scene in the late Seventies and early Eighties. Many of us have very fond memories of their gigs at legendary Brighton venues like the Vault and the Alhambra and it has always seemed quite ironic to me to hear their song blasting out from other clubs’ PA systems and chanted by opposing fans.

So as part of the campaign for our new stadium, ‘Seagulls Ska’ proudly present our new version of ‘Tom Hark’ along with a seriously ska version of our beloved anthem ‘Sussex By The Sea’ - and the alternative 1990 Cup Final song for our rivals ‘Chrystal’ Palace! Of course, you’ll hear ‘Tom Hark’ at the next few Albion home games....

This record is dedicated to all the fans who have battled so long , so hard and with such creativity and imagination to keep our club alive: to the Piranhas, especially Bob Grover, who inspired it and who has given us his blessing: to Dick Knight and the Albion board, who pulled us back from the brink: and of course to the Albion players, whose dedication, commitment and self-belief against unbelievable odds have given a club with no ground and no money three promotions in four years. And to Skint for backing us. Thanks.
Attila the Stockbroker/John Baine
Poet in Residence and PA Announcer at the Albion

THE TRACKS:
1. TOM HARK (We Want Falmer!)
(Bopeape/Baine/Grover)
2. SUSSEX BY THE SEA (Instrumental Version)
(Traditional)
3.SUSSEX BY THE SEA (Singalong Version)
(Traditional)
4. ROLL UP FOR THE DONKEY DERBY....
(Baine)

SEAGULLS SKA are:
M.M.McGhee (no relation!) drums: David Beaken - bass: Dan Woods - guitar
Ralph Brown - solo sax: Marlon Johnson - trombone: Tony Fish - trumpet: Alan Perry: sax
Attila the Stockbroker - vocals, lyrics
Bacing vocals by the Falmer For All Choir featuring Dave Cook and Too Many Crooks

PRE-ORDERING:

It is vital that people who wish to support our efforts pre-order the single as soon as possible.
Under normal circumstances, distribution and other costs mean that singles lose money. In order for this one to make money for the Club, Skint Records need to have a reasonably good idea of how many copies to press, and pre-ordering will make this possible. In addition to pre-ordered copies, if we are going to take the Albion into the charts, we obviously need to sell as many extra copies as possible in the five days immediately following the release date
(Mon 3rd - Sat 8th Jan)
So we’re suggesting people pre order, then buy an extra one for Mr. Prescott after it’s released!
To keep down distribution costs, the single will only be available at selected shops, all in Sussex.
But it can be purchased online from anywhere in the world!

Order from Amazon:

If the record helps to get publicity for the club's efforts to get a proper ground in Falmer rather than the subbuteo effort they have at present then it's gotta be a good thing.

This reminds me of my student days several years ago, when i agreed to part of the campaign to send hate Xmas cards to the chairman of Brighton & HA FC from my Liverpool address because he wouldn't open any with a Sussex postcode because of the venom felt against him locally. They were really pretty shocking in retrospect  but I did it anyway.

My shall be spending this Xmas down that way with family. My uncle bought a pair of Brighton season tickets this year just to see Leeds play there - he's sold all the other games on a game by game basis :)

I shall be at the Withdean on Boxing Day for Brighton v Gillingham so I shall endeavour to lend some financial support whilst I'm there if I can.

That'll be a relegation dogfight. Albion have just sold Danny Culip to Sheff U for 250k. His form is one of the prime reasons they are not yet in the bottom 3.

Yes, I think I shall be wholeheartedly cheering for a good rousing 3-3 draw that keeps both sides below Leeds

Oh well, I could have prevented you from going potentially mad in Uckfield by inviting you out for a quick drink

However, I myself will be going potentially mad in Essex during those exact same dates. Nevermind.

I hope that wasn't Muir who told you that. His definition of beauty is having a tongue long enough to reach leaves off the upper branches. Actually, come to think of it...

Oh yeah??

Best to bear in mind that when I met JA and BJ it was in a rather darkened 'On the Rocks' in Shoreditch. I do wonder whether they'll recognise me when we have this little meet up in January.

I don't know whether I have a long tongue or short tongue? What's considered a normal length??

*sits back and waits for BJ to come back with juvenile innuendo*

I stopped recognising the difference between girls and boys when I spotted that lovely Evan Dando girl coming out of the Gents at the Academy in 1992.

Actually last time I saw you, you were tumbling out of a cab in Victoria. So if you cartwheel into the pub on the 14th it will assist me in my efforts at recognition...

As for the tongue, I fear further investigation may be needed. I shall get Muir to provide a thorough inspection on the night (if he's not down London Zoo visiting young friends...)

And if you are going to cartwheel in, can you make sure you're wearing a short skirt?

Sorry, I appear to be feeling frisky this afternoon

Just a reminder that 'Tom Hark' is now out on general release. I picked up my copy in Virgin yesterday and mighty fine it is too (in a slightly novelty way of course). I particularly like the anti-'Chrystal' Palace amusement of 'Roll Up For The Donkey Derby'. Just a shame they made it one track too long to be eligible for ther charts by including two versions of 'Sussex By The Sea' :x
