Post subject: | The Worlds Greatest Covers |
Has anyone seen the new compilation "Inspired"? It's supposed to feature the worlds greatest covers. But what cover versions would you have put on the album? Personally I think they made a big mistake with Motorhead and their cover of "Louie, Louie". I mean come on, no way is it better than The Kingsmen's version. I bet the person who compiled the album thought that The Kingsmen was the original version. Apart from The Kingsmen, I would have put the following covers on - "September Gurls" - Squire "Between The Wars" - Nightwatch "I Fought The Law" - The Clash "She Said, She Said" - The Chords Disc: 1 1. Thinking Of You - Paul Weller 2. Wonderwall - Ryan Adams 3. Everybody's Talkin' - Beautiful South 4. Mad World - M. Andrews And G. Jules 5. High And Dry - Jamie Cullum 6. I Don't Want To Talk About It - Everything But The Girl 7. Fields Of Gold - Eva Cassidy 8. Mr Tambourine Man - The Byrds 9. Mighty Quinn - Manfred Mann 10. Dancing In The Moonlight - Toploader 11. Revolution - Grandaddy 12. Teardrop - Elbow 13. Burning Down The House - Tom Jones 14. Just Be Good To Me - Beats International 15. Only Love Can Break Your Heart - Saint Etienne 16. Light My Fire - Al Green 17. Two Of Us - Aimee Mann 18. Les Fleurs - 4 Hero 19. Black Steel - Tricky Disc: 2 1. Handbags And Gladrags - Stereophonics 2. Cum On Feel The Noise - Oasis 3. Step On - Happy Mondays 4. David Watts - The Jam 5. Jackie Wilson Said - Dexy's (sic) Midnight Runners 6. I'm A Believer - The Monkees 7. The Man Who Sold The World - Lulu 8. Born To Run - Frankie Goes To Hollywood 9. Louie Louie - Motorhead 10. Can't Stand Losing You - Feeder 11. Ziggy Stardust - Bauhaus 12. Tainted Love - Soft Cell 13. Victoria - The Fall 14. A Minha Menina - The Bees 15. Cracklin' Rosie - Shane MacGowan 16. Bad Moon Rising - Thea Gilmore 17. Norwegian Wood - Cornershop 18. A New England - Kirsty MacColl 19. Good Year For The Roses - Elvis Costello |

Don't really know where to start with this one.. Orange Juice - Holiday Hymn Astrud Gilberto - Windy Dusty Springfield - Can I get a Witness The Hollies - Can't Let Go Dusty Springfield - If it don't work out Luna - Sweet Child of Mine Cud - Bohemian Rhapsody Lemonheads - Different Drum Yo La Tengo - Hanky Panky Know How I'll probably have to come back with another post when I think of some more. Incidently, there is a copy going of "alvin Lives in Leeds" on Ebay which features the aforementioned Cud cover if you haven't heard it |

My favourite ever song is also a Dylan cover so that definately qualifies it. All Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix Experience Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley also gets a noticable mention, The Prodigy covered Ghost Town for a war child album last year, by no means better I took a liking to it. |
