Things got a bit heated last night when the relative merits of these two erm musicians were raised. I say Frank Sidebottom wins hands down, especially as he also gets to call on some other veritable talents and co-residents of Timperley in little Denise, little Frank and amoeba Frank. Johnny Anarchy however reckons Ted Chippington was funnier, even though he had no hair. Anyway the contenders... Genius... Frank Sidebottom er no picture available of Ted Chippington but he was wore teddy boy's drapes and brothel creepers. |

Ted is the greatest British comedian since Harry Worth. His version of She Loves You makes you forget that a bunch of hairy scouse gits ever played it. Ted gets my vote every time. Wonderful poll, lads. Ted Chippington by a mile. I remember agreeing with Andy Kershaw when he said on Whistle Test that Chippington was the funniest man in the world. All the jokes of his that I remember have to be told out loud and even then I know I could never make them funny. He had the gift. Well overdue a revival. Never got Sidebottom at all. |
