Friday December 3rd’s The Penelope Tree will be playing the best of John Peel’s 2002 Christmas show.
This includes Belle and Sebastian playing live – a caroltastic performance, that’ll have you clicking your fingers and shaking your belles….

Special guest DJ’s;

ACB, a.k.a. ‘Aussie Bowlie’, all the way from Melbourne, Australia, playing some classic Oz and Brit indie and twee pop…get in early to catch him!!

Then we’re very lucky to have guitarist/vocalist Graeme W from top indie krautrockers ‘The Projects’ playing everything from Red Crayola to Can – and whatever else he’s into…

Plus Hatty and Chimes spinning their usual mix of girl garage, Rough Trade rarities, New Wave, French and 60’s pop and current bedroom pop…..

TPT plays;
Delta 5, St Etienne, The Undertones, Girls at our Best!, Ballboy, Felt, Piney Gir, Belle and Sebastian, Young Marble Giants, The Passions, Jilted John, Camera Obscura, Life Without Buildings, The The, Comet Gain, Doris, Kicker, The Projects, Dexys, Microdisney, Wet Dog, The Schla la las, The Road Runners, Shangri-Las, Morrissey, Yum-Yums, Beach Boys: Ska, French Pop, Northern Soul, 60's pop & garage, early Rough Trade and Electronica...

And I can now confirm that 'Stand at Ease' by The Housemartins will be played at exactly midnight.

Thanks to nanas, I now have it on MP3 - and thanks to a.n.other on a.n.other forum, on vinyl too!!
At least that's all me Christmas presents out of the way - apart from the Stitched Back Foot Airman album I'm still after....

Had a great time on Friday!! Brilliant night all round, excellent music and excellent people.

We'll definitely come along along to the next one (whenever and wherever that might be) Although we might be a little more organised about getting home, thanks very much to Chimes and Hatty for their hospitality in that respect! :D

Are you going to post up a little taster of what was played Chimes, so that people see what they missed?

Cor - ta!
Again, don't usually keep a record, so forgive me if only a summary - this is what I played at various points..

The Housemartins - Stand at Ease (!!)
New Order - Procession
Aberfeldy - Heliopolis by Night
Delta 5 - Try
Hidden Cameras - The dying Galatian
St Etienne - How we used to live
Felt - Sunlight bathed the golden glow
Dexys - I Love you (listen to this)
Microdisney - This liberal love
Joy Division - Love will tear us apart
Fire Engines - Candyskin
Josef K - Chance Meeting
Ben Watt - North Marine Drive
Prefab Sprout - I never play basketball now
A Sudden Sway - Alleluja! The psychic sons
Scars - All about you
Television Personalities - I was a mod before you was a mod

and so on - Hatty did the much more up to date stuff and the girl garage / french pop thing...

Cheers! - The Penelope Tree will be back in 2005....
