After a long time unavailable a seriously excellent looking Mansions retrospective. You do want it (even I want it and I've got it all already).

Sept 24, Kitchenware (through Sony/BMG) will release 'Viva Dead Ponies/Nice Vines', a double-pack release, comprising the original UK tracklisting of VDP, plus a CD containing a 16-track, career-spanning selection, comprised of these tracks:

Only Losers Take the Bus
The Loyaliser
Evil Man
North Atlantic Wind
Bertie's Brochures
1000 Percent
Chemical Cosh
Valhalla Avenue
Behind the Moon
Popemobile to Paraguay
You Won't Get Me Home
Belong Nowhere
Nite Flights
Wilderness On Time
Humiliate Me
Blues For Ceausescu

And if that weren't enough-

On September 24, 2007, Castle/Sanctuary will release Microdisney's 'Daunt Square To Elsewhere: Anthology 1982-88'. It contains 29 tracks, from throughout the existence of Microdisney. There are no current plans for a digital release.

I'm in for those. I love 'Bertie's Brochures'.

Much as I like Cathal C's solo stuff, I do miss the verve and vairety of the Fatima Mansions. Humilate Me sounds like Motorhead and Bertie's Brochures contains, by CC's own pleased admission, lots of Elton John style piano.

"Humiliate Me" (back in '94) originally came as a concert freebie, encased in rubber and with an orange on the label - accompanied with a t-shirt declaring the advent of "Lilley and Portillo's Fist-Fucking Parlour, previously known as Great Britain plc".
