I don't know I anyone reads this anymore but anyway
I was asked by a friend how a band from Brighton who know nobody in London can get to play a few gigs. I know nothing about this side of things so I thought I would ask. Do you send demos to people, if so who?
They have a proper record out and everything and my friend thinks they are the best thing ever.
Thanks in advance

Tell them to contact a few bands in a similar genre and ask if they want to put on a gig together. Then choose a venue. Promoters ( with the odd exception) are rubbish.

Out of curiosity who are they?

In answer to you original question - first time I've logged on in a few months.

I listen to demos and I put shows on. Tell them to message me through the oddboxrecords.com site.

Described by Brighton source as
"a combination of post-punk and glam rock, like the New York Dolls with better tunes or the Stooges if they’d grown up in a rainy town somewhere in Middle England and been dosed with night nurse rather than heroin. There’s the passion and bite of American garage punk, infused with an intelligent and English lyrical sensibility."
Perhaps not your cup of tea Trev but have told them to send it anyway

Tell them to stick it up on bandcamp, soundcloud etc.

Get them to put it on Twitter and Facebook too. If they tag @SoundsXP in then I can retweet it. A good few venues and labels follow us so you never know...

Actually, Jim, I know a venue who might well be interested. Have just emailed them so I'll PM you when I hear anything.
