As many of you know, for a few years I was a radio DJ, but had never really been on national radio before (I was interviewed for the BBC 10 o'clock news once), but since I've stopped working and stuff, I decided to have a crack at getting on The Chain on Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie's show on 6 Music. They quite often read out emails from people who've been trying to get on for years. I actually managed it first go. It was just Mark that week and I've been listening to his shows for over 20 years so it was nice to talk to him at last. Then I was on again a couple of weeks later - so I've been a right jammy bugger! Also, I got an email from one of Steve Lamacq's producers this week asking if I'd come on for a feature on his show. All of which is a bit weird! So to try and kickstart some form of conversation, I was wondering if anyone else has been on national TV or radio at all? (Jokes about Crimewatch welcome) If you hate 6 Music or Lamacq or whatever, I don't really care - I listen to 6 Music because I can get it through my TV and it's the best of the bunch. I don't have a good enough connection for internet stations really. I'll check back in a few months to see if this post gets a reply... |

Nope, not me, though one of our writers once got a quote from her SoundsXP review namechecked in an ad that was used a few times on XFM. It was a bit cringeworthy for us eds though as the line was "All indie music should sound like this" and the track was crap and derivative.... Bola - did Chimes used to have a radio show or have I made that up? |

If in a music context then, no. My Mother once saw me on the news strolling with my boyfriend through a semi-riot in Belfast eating an ice-cream and looking fairly content with life. Does that count? I was also an audience member in the local equivalent of Question Time. The first was more fun. |

Local radio is the best I've managed, representing Keyworth in the Radio Nottingham inter-village quiz. I played a significant role in getting us through the first two non-broadcast rounds, but my fellow team members refused to buy me a drink in the pub afterwards on the grounds that I was the under-18 member. Suitably disaffected I failed to identify a Rick Astley song in the first broadcast round that might have seen us through a close contest. (Actually I had no idea what it was - it wasn't Never Gonna Give You Up - who knew there were any others?) |

Together Forever is the one Rick Astley song other than NGGYU that I can name (and hum)! Never been on the radio, but John Peel made a joke about my name on air once and I sat in the studio when I drove the Schla La Las to promote their single (SXP002) on Marc Riley's show. Congrats on the burgeoning media career! |

I'd have recognised 'Together Forever'. It was after that - one of She Wants to Dance with Me, Hold Me in Your Arms or Take Me to Your Heart. I suspect even Rick would have trouble humming those now. |

I was on Radio Sheffield once and 'won' a clock on a phone in competition, after the DJ had previously texted me the answer. This was when they were allowed to do competition on the BBC. Not sure why they stopped. |
