Only newsworthy event? We've had a few that have made the national news in the past year or 2! We seem to get discussed in the house of lords quite a bit too for some reason. I suppose they need something to do other than spend extreme amounts of money on posh food and other perks.
That's a pretty minor police event really. The house 2 doors from me getting torched by the son of the woman who rents it (while his younger brother was upstairs asleep!) was probably a bigger one. The guy climbing to the top of his ship's mast while it was alongside the quay and then jumping to his death was also a bigger story. I think the fact that his yacht was being searched by customs at the time had something to do with it. I think the haul was £2 million in cocaine. I could go on...
