I've been trying to find songs with October in the lyrics. I challenge you to join me in pursuit of the elusive good tune featuring same*. An awkward bugger of a month yielding little so far.

*Excluding songs by The Onob Quartet

Calendar Girl by Neil Sedaka has all the months of the year in it's backing vocals, but like my last suggestion isn't very good. If you're looking for good songs with October in the lyrics, I've not thought of anything.

Doesn't mention October specifically, but this is a great autumn song. It's definitely about the misery of October.

Ha Westie, I just nearly spat my tea out.
By coincidence I am listening to this right now and it has October in it. Kanye - Hold my Liquor:

Oh, you've ruined everything! On November 1st every year I always do my whole jokey "Who's picking Wyclef up from the airport later?" and other such lines thing.

Now it'll seem obvious! Still, even you mentioning it there made me laugh!

Not to me. I still haven't got a fucking clue what you're all on about.

And I won't be clicking on any explicatory links.

No links required really. One of his biggest hits was called 'I'll Be Gone Till November'.

Anyway - there's no need to worry. I've booked him a taxi and I've managed to get the day off work so I can help him with his bags and stuff. So we're all sorted.

Which reminds me. As I informed Cavey, I saw Jarvis at Sheffield station yesterday lunchtime. Assuming he was heading home it looks he's only been gone to mid-October. He could write a song about that and keep marg happy too.

Hehe. Although to be fair Wyclef doesn't specify that he's coming back bang on the 1st of November so you could be waiting at the airport a long time.

He's usually back on the 1st barring delays. He told his girl he'd be back on the 1st so he's always eager to get home as soon as he can.

Also, if only Billie-Joe from Green Day had phrased when he needed waking up slightly differently...

Or if school holidays had been a month longer back in 1962 when Carole King got all upset...

Hehe.

Finally a genuine answer!

First line:

"I came up from under her warm sheets
Into the brisk, late October"
