R.I.P. singer, songwriter Lyndsey De Paul. Not a massive fan and she once nearly ran me over and singing at a Tory party conference is unforgivable, but I remember her as part of the soundtrack to my childhood.

RIP. Agree about childhood - she wrote Dancin On A Saturday Night, the video for which I can still see in my head all these years later! I also love the brilliant Storm In A Teacup. Worth remembering more than the politics!

Did she know it was you when she tried to run you over?

I don't think she was trying to run me over. She cut a corner and her back wheel mounted the kerb where I was waiting to cross the road. I leapt backwards, thinking 'that maniac looks like Lyndsey De Paul'. As she drove off, I noticed her Merc had a personalised number plate, something like LDP 1, confirming thta that maniac was indeed Lyndsey De Paul.
