Apple should be prosecuted for the wilful distribution of a malignant virus. |

I tried to be fair and played it and it sounds like the Saga Holidays house band. Bonio has always had a weak, needy voice but he sounds like he's at the post office, collecting his pension. The Sledge should join a showband on the evidence of his woeful metal riffs. They just embarrass themselves on The Miracle of Joey Ramone, which is cringeworthy. And finally, any Irish band should hang their heads in shame for calling a song The Troubles. I saw a good quote in a comments thread: "In a world where the album has been consistently devalued over the last 15 years or so, U2 have finally reduced it to the status of spam email. Well done Bono, well done indeed." |

Heh heh I chose the more spittle-speckled quote below as my own personal fave. Just on the right side of a rant. "Mega rich tax dodgers in alliance with a corporate monstrosity invade the music libaries of millions of people - because they have the power to do that - as a marketing ploy. As a statement of contempt, it's as big and loud and vulgar as I imagine a U2 concert is. Rock n roll is dead, embalmed and being used as a dart board by Bono. I'll say this for U2. After all these years, they manage to surprise and stay relevant in one respect. Every time I think they cannot be any more hateful, they prove me wrong." |

I actually wish I'd known they were releasing the removal tool in advance. I just deleted it from iTunes the normal way you delete songs, but I think that means it still stays in my cloud storage or whatever it is, so I probably still have it somewhere, I just can't find it. I didn't listen to a second of it, in fact I haven't heard a note of it anywhere. But it's unsettling knowing that it's stealthily hiding somewhere on my computer... or cloud thing whatever that is... |

I actually don't mind U2 - was more offended by the fact that they penetrated your music collection without consent. It's music rape, and stalking first (lurking in the background, waiting to pounce) I fucking hate apple. |

Yep. U2 and Apple are teaming up with a plan to get people buying albums again! They were that confident that it would work that they just decided to give away their new record for free! Musicians rejoice, soon you'll all be raking it in... um, even though one of the biggest bands in the world have just thrown their latest - and very long awaited - effort at everyone for nothing and hoped that it would stick. It didn't, everyone just ignored it. Music is safe hands! ![]() |

Oh it's OK after all. A million-selling, way past their sell by date mega-band giving away their album to 500million people through one of the biggest companies on the planet was a "punk" thing to "stir things up a bit" http://www.nme.com/news/u2/79854 |

That would be consistent with U2's re-branding of themselves over the years as a product of the original punk explosion. A world in which 'punk' set lists consisted largely of Moody Blues covers. From four "working class" boys who grew up on the mean streets... of the posh toff leafy suburban end of town. Is it any wonder Larry Mullen wants to deck Onob every time he opens his gob. |
