Round then, most of the music I was listening to came from these shores. Fast forward 10 years and I barely listen to any British bands. Can barely think of any I genuinely love these days. Weird ennit.

I was finding music from these shores paling in comparison to some of the bands visiting from abroad long before that; probably back as far as the mid 80s. Things have maybe ebbed and flowed since then, but think this century is one where the British have really lagged behind and feel this continues to be the case. I'm sure I've forgotten more than a few good UK bands of the era, but coming up with a list of great foreign groups visiting these shores between 2000 & 2009 was no problem at all. Given that many great US bands of the era never made it to these shores, I think this list is pretty impressive. Can any of you come up with a list of UK bands from the same time that is as strong? I've left out some foreign bands who came over during this time because they're bands I associate more with previous decades. I've also only included groups I saw myself, which excludes, for instance The Strokes & Moldy Peaches.

Anyone listened to Up The Bracket by The Libertines recently? I gave it a spin a few months back and it's still bloody great.

I did play it several months ago and it's better now than it was then I think. Aged well. It'd be nice if the new album's much cop.

They're making a new album??

Genuinely missed that.

It won't be any good. Don't even begin to think it'll be any good.

Yup. According to Carl it'll be out next year.

Blimey. I recognise the names off of here, but have literally never heard anything by more than 4 or 5 of them.

I can count 22 that I've heard stuff by on that list. Mind you, I was presenting a new music radio show at the time, so I kind of should know them really.

LUUUUUUUDDDDEEEES. Dudes. Loved them live. Loved them as people. Loved that album though the cover still freaks me out. I still listen to it - one of the few albums I can listen to without pressing skip. Still miss them. Still brings a tear to my eye when I think about them. True music love.

Liked The dead 60's too - bought their stuff.
The Moths! - they ruled too.

P.S - I already feel really olllllddddd.

In the form of this list: http://www.nme.com/photos/46-quality-in ... 345815/1/1

who'd you add?

I knew most of the list (and think I've seen about 75% of them) but wish I had never encountered Dustin's Bar Mitzvah (weren't they a bunch of daddy-financed teenagers behaving badly?) and the execrable The Others.

Surprised not to see Maximo Park and Metro Riots - the former had one excellent album and the latter were all round nice boys with the best sidies in showbiz (take that Noddy Holder!)
