Should have known better than top pull this up on the i-player. I can accept that most of my personal favourite riffs weren't gonna make the show, I knew it would be full of musos intellectualising about something innately not intellectual; no problem. What I didn't expect was a version of history that suggested it took Kurt Cobain to take the guitar riff back to it's simple origins after decades of increasing complexity in sound and form. Whatever happened to punk rock? Not a single mention! It's not that there weren't any great punk riffs; I mean, Blitzkrieg Bop? New Rose? Boredom?
Rant over!
Anybody else see it?

Surprisingly so for BBC4. It was so random too - The Yardbirds track?

I saw it. A ridiculous rewrite of history which, desperate to feature a few female acts, shoehorned in The Runaways and tried to make out they were a big deal. Also, of course, they completely missed out one of the most famous riffs of the last 40 years: Rock and Roll (Part II) by the Glitter Band. Revisionist nonsense.
