One of Gorky's Zygotic Mynci's Mums: "You can't be trusted for a minute! That noise is unacceptable for the neighbours, you can hear it halfway down the street. Just, just moderate it a bit."

One of Gorky's Zygotic Mynci's Dads: "That's your last warning, it does not need to be that loud, especially the bass, which I explained to you not... four hours ago. Bass sounds travel. Much more than any other sound. You don't need that volume in a room this size - that is your last warning, OK?"

One of Gorky's: "Mmm"

Dad: "And I'm VERY serious, you're being stupid. You're guaranteeing that you won't be able to do this AGAIN. So use your brain and think."

Suicide ... 23 Minutes Over Brussels. Live recording of Suicide supporting Elvis Costello in Brussels in 1978.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqmK8EYrNDs
Audience start booing even before first song andcontinues throughout performance.
9.30: chants of "Elvis Elvis Elvis"
19'30: loud applause can be heard; someone steals Alan Vega's microphone (a woman at 20'35" can be heard saying "They took the mic"). Shortly afterwards, the music stops and the promoter comes on, warning the audience that if they don't give the microphone back, there will be "no show". Vega joins in, swearing at the audience. After receiving the microphone, he continues to sing "Frankie Teardrop" a cappella. More booing followed by Vega shouting "Shut the fuck up, this is about Frankie".
22.44: Raptuous applause as the band leave the stage.
Recording of the show was released as a limited live album in 1978 and later included as a bonus CD with the first CD reissue of the first Suicide album.

Costello, appalled by Suicide's treatment performed a short angry set then refused to return to the stage, sparking a riot. Alan Vega's nose was broken and the show was cancelled.

Fire Engines ... Get Up & Use Me

(After false start) "Just keep going"

Can only find links to the album version that doesn't have the false start. Shame the single is much better.

The Birthday Party
On the Drunk On The Popes Blood live LP (split one side each with Lydia Lunch from the same gig), Nick Cave announces everyone can scream for 15 seconds. One person in the audience starts singing a song that goes "Danger zone in the heart of the city, danger zone in the heart of the town". The person singing is Everett True! I've no idea where the song comes from and Everett had no idea either, but another Birthday Party fan had sang it at more than one previous Birthday Party show and Everett (or Jerry as I then knew him) and I had been commenting on his absence at this show immediately before the band took the stage, as it was unusual not to see him at their gigs.
