I personally loved Jay's debut and I'm not usually a fan of singer/songwriters. I also have all the EPs in question so although I've not purchased this album I have heard its contents. I don't think much of it comes close to the first album in terms of quality and if that was all I'd heard I'd have been pretty underwhelmed. Of course his death makes any criticism seem tasteless but as a music reviews site we have to be honest about whether something is worthy of purchase. I think James did that. Anyway this is tasteless... |

And surely to sugar a review of a record because someone has died is patronising. Music, as a text, becomes part of the public debate, it's property. The author loses any posession when he produces a piece of work, doesn't he? |
