No problem mentioning it here of course, cos I have mod privileges and can sneak back and delete the exchange.

After I've killed Westie. He knows too much.

Pearce was a playing legend and would still get applauded into his seat at Etihad as a guest but as a manager it's difficult to forget a time when he presided over a run of games when we couldn't score at home for toffee and he was clueless about how to stop the rot.

From Wikipedia (!):

Quote:
The side also scored just 10 goals at home in the league, and none after New Years Day in 2007, a record low in top-flight English football

Well, the consolation is that we're already pretty safe from relegation...

Uh oh, like a bad penny the 'Hoddle favourite' rumour is back back back. It's been wrong the last five times, hopefully again.

I mean he wouldn't necessarily be a disaster, but...

Hoddle would be a great appointment. Is Zola still an option or has he withdrawn?

I was wondering why Keane hadn't been mentioned, but he's with the national side isn't he...

I'd forgotten he played for Forest first. I think he's already shown he's not management material with his failed efforts at Ipswich and Sunderland. He's frankly fuckin' crackers.

And SPT, no trolling. Hoddle ended up England manager because of more than just his personal silky pitch skills. I think he's probably a safer bet than most English options right now - the best coaches seem to all be foreign with only Brendan Rodgers looking the real deal of the British and Irish. Zola would be my first choice though.

Other than the being crackers part, which he clearly is, I think the jury's still out on Keane as a manager. He worked wonders at Sunderland at first. But then fell out with half the club which led to his downfall there. That's the gamble you take with him though. He's not really an nice, agreeable "people person". As for Ipswich, well, he didn't get them promoted, they perpetually hung around mid table. But was that his fault? It's been ages since he left and things haven't really changed much...

Whether he's a good manager or not is neither here nor there. Just don't want him and all the attendant flim and flam at a club I support.

Zola would be lovely, regardless of results.

If you were a chairman would you want to work with him? And as a pampered player, on £5-20k a week or whatever (I'm talking Forest here, rather than Sunderland) are you going to put up with a bully telling you you're a shite, sulking with you and half threatening to kick the bollix out of you every five minutes? He's an oddball loner who can't work with others. He's not a manager.

I'll refer you to my answer to the above post by SPT!

So Palace are now 11th with 40 points.

Say what you like about Pulis but that's... that's a staggering achievement. Fair play.

They are a very well disciplined unit. Defensively sound and industrious when they haven't got the ball and in Puncheon and Chamakh they have two surprisingly effective attacking players. It's not long ball either, it's just about pace really, springing from defence into attack very quickly - like a poor man's Liverpool, I guess. If City don't win the title now, and I suspect they can't as they are reliant on both Chelsea and Liverpool slipping up, I really hope Liverpool do. It'd be a very deserving outcome (though I'm not buying into the timing of it, with Hillsborough, etc).

An absolute disaster. That team is beyond saving and he is vermin as a human being and vile as a football tactitioner. The thought of watching them for the rest of the season lumping it to Chamakh doesn't bear thinking about.

Well if Liverpool Chelsea is a draw City could be right back in the mixer.

Liverpool have still got to play Palace as well!

So have City! Away!

And milchy, nice bit of copying and pasting... :D It's working ok for Palace so far and of course expectations are exceptionally low (thry were fighting relegation from the Championship for 3 seasons running up until 2 years ago). He's shifted out their one quality dribbler and passer (Williams) on loan and relegated their one decent set piece merchant (Bannan) to the bench, both presumably because they're about 5 foot 6. BUT until he buys a Rory Delap and starts launching the ball from throw ins from the halfway line, they'll be ok.

If Liverpool win the league, as is looking highly likely, I shall applaud them because they'll have deserved it. This little shit on the other hand deserves at least a yellow card every time he steps out onto the pitch...
