So who else has their album? What's the opinion? I really like three or four of them esp Helipolis By Night which is fantastic (has a hint of Lloyd Cole about it, can't remember which track, maybe Rattlesnakes). Some of it is a bit insipid though. |

Unsurprisingly I've got it and think it's proper alright... Gets a bit tiresome towards the end but errs towards the loveable side of twee for most of the way... If you can get over the shockingly trite (but nothing that 60's pop hasn't covered anyway) lyrics you'll be alright... "Love is a noun, and a verb as well You'll find it in the dictionary under 'L'" |

Spooky... I was just listening to that line when I read your post. And yes, I'd have been disappointed if you hadn't raised your cardigan clad arm... ![]() |

I’ve lived with this album for a while and it’s part of the family now. I genuinely thought I’d hate it after the first listen and I certainly didn’t love the singles beforehand. It’s true the lyrics are trite, out of context, but there’s just an innocent simplicity about the whole effect that will either curl your hair, fingers and toes or give you a warm, cosy feeling, like having Scotch broth on a typically dreich Caledonian day. Also, like everything else in pop music, one's state of mind or personal circumstances affect how you'll react to new music, so for me, there'll always be a poignancy surrounding this record. |

I wasn't implying I thought the lyrics were shite, incidentally. I love 'em! They are shockingly trite but personally I find that wonderfully charming... |

Is that guestie Westie? Pull up a chair and have some scotch broth with me - just ignore Cavey - if there's a stick she'll get the wrong end of it. ![]() |

Dunno about progress but it's certainly more efficient! The youth of today will grow up to become the Chief Executives of tomorrow... hurrah. |
