:D Before I saw that photo of you, I wouldn't have thought it possible. Now I realise you're capable of anything!

Well compared to Crookes he is!

Mark Bright's only saving grace as a pundit is that he's not Garth Crooks!

The ultimate nightmare combination would be Crooks and Bright in the studio, Jon Champion commentating and David Pleat summarising.

A Tyldesley, Burley, Bright and Thompson combo would be enough to tip me over the edge.

Not remembering that you'd left the Caps Lock on to make a rubbish joke on an internet forum and then getting halfway through typing something else before you realise.

CAMRA is fine. That's an acronym... My guess would be that terms like "MBA" will eventually be non-controversially called "acronyms" simply because "acronym" is a much less cumbersome word than "initialisation" or any of the alternatives.

Sorry to have missed this debate way back when, but that's no reason not to pitch in. Kev - I am totally with you on this one. An acronym is a set of intials that when said sound like they may be a word (not necessarily a real word of course, ie NATO) because they arbitrairily consist of a sequence of vowels and consonants to make it memorable for us as a 'word'. YMCA is not an acronym no matter how many times you sing along and pose out the letters.

But I can see where Mrs Ray (Hi Mrs Ray!) is coming from, even if they come over all school-teacher-ish. Yes yes language is organic etc which is why the fight is lost to the illiterates now who say CD's when they mean more than one and not the attribute of a singular CD. Grrrrr. And MBA will become an acronym because the illierati will pronounce it EmBAy...

The illiterates will take over in the end but will they be able to write their own history? 'nuff said. natch.

NATIONAL EXPRESS EAST ANGLIA - Stranded at Liverpool street last night. Nowhere to go. No plan in place to take stranded commuters anywhere. Couldn't get home. Sitting at work in the same clothes as yesterday. The worst train service in the UK ever. Fact. Avoid it like the plague. I pay £100.50 a week for the pleasure of being fucked by them everyday.

We could possibly do with a 'Big Things That Really Wind You Up' thread for that one. Sounds like a horrible experience.

It wasn't nice but there are a lot worse things that could happen. Can't stand the train company though. I moved to essex in June, and every week there is a problem. I told them that their new years resolution should be not to be a train company any longer. They should try something else.

Yeah, count yourself lucky. There are plenty of people out there who would gladly pay £100.50 a week to be fucked every day!

I would like to point out that I didn't name the thread, I just resurrected it for today. And I've never heard of that term before the funny Northern man started that thread.

He's a bit weird. Just saw him interviewing Meryl Streep. She told him she loved him for describing her work as Thatcher as almost Shakespearean. He blushed like a man who's never ever had a woman say she loved him before, let alone a huge movie star.

Yeah saw that myself. Hence the post. He's another false, self-important idiot. He probably thinks he looks 'eccentric'. I think he looks like a knob.

Toilet attendants - Why was there one at The Scala last night offering me squirty soap and paper towels? I really don't need help with this sort of thing! Surely his time would have been better spent serving pints (obviously after washing his hands).

..and adding the word "man" to the end of a sentence. Are they all on drugs?

'Here Come The Girls'. If I have to hear that song on another TV ad or montage I'll go spare.

oh also mobile phones and the way they like to kid on there's a text or call coming through by every so often making that interference noise with the tele or pc for no apparent reason...I know I'm not popular, stop raising my hopes and dashing them again!!

And Jenny Eclair. And anyone who's ever appeared on Loose Women (apart from the one out of the Nolans who I used to fancy a bit).
