New band announced for the 100 Club:

CLUB003: Gum blur the lines between noisepop and shoegaze. This four piece band (2 women, 2 men) are white hot live and they released a brilliant EP (Seventeen) on Tiny Lights last year. They're promising new recordings for the 100 Club. We can not wait to what they come up with.

Here's one of their earlier tunes:

Tyrannosaurus Dead got a wee mention in the NME today (feels odd, given the NME isn't what it once was):

3. Tyrannosaurus Dead - Sadie
4. Noun Verb Adjective - Flattle of the Bulges 69
5. The Wolfhounds - The Ten Commandments Of Public Life
6. Flowers - Hide and Seek
7. Gum - Sinking
8. Year Of Birds - For The Record

A 15 song compilation comprising 1 song for each release on Odd Box in 2013. Many from the sold out Crackle! Fuzz! Pop! singles club and Volume 1. of The 100 Club Series of 7" singles.

The only act missing is Martha. Their fab single for the 100 Club Series has recently been repressed by the fab folks at Discount Horse. So you best pick up those songs from them. Seems fair, doesn't it?

Nottingham based artist James Indiehorse has gone and made a superb flyer. Look, see:

Image

People have been snapping up weekend passes over the festive/new year holidays. A quick check reveals:

We've got 6 early bird weekend passes left at £20 (regular price £27.50)
    We've got 18 Sat/Sun passes left at £16 (regular price £20.00)

You can pick up day passes from this link: http://oddboxrecords.limitedrun.com/tickets/12620

Day tickets for will go on sale in February:

    Saturday will cost £12.
    Sunday will cost £9.50.

If you want to come on the Friday you will need to buy a weekend pass (the venues smaller capacity means we will have none to sell on the door/advance outside of the weekend passes).

Just started to run a feature over on the Odd Box website, The A-Z of the Odd Box Weekender 2014, where you can get the low down on the bands that are playing.

http://oddboxrecords.com/news.php?id=63

Here's the first post in that series.

We're going to look at bands in alphabetical order. Which means first up is brand new band Chorusgirl. They're Silvi, Caroline and Udo. They have big bright chiming guitars that mingle with surf pop. They have two songs on line for streaming that pitches their sound as a heady mix of (early) Breeders and the hazy sound of contemporaries like Beach House.

The band will be playing the Sunday show at The Lexington.

Bought a weekend pass. The Saturday looks like a fantastic line up but I'd like to see the Manhattans again and who knows what you might add.

Here's a quick run down of what is going on in Odd Box land:

The Hundredth Anniversary have a new 5 song EP coming out on Odd Box in March. You can pre-order now on Bandcamp.

The Wendy Darlings are releasing their debut album in April. It's a cracker. You can, of course, pre-order the CD via Bandcamp again.

The Odd Box Distro has recently started. We're selling good shit from the likes of Dora Maar, Ela Orleans, Martha, ONSIND, CIty Yelps etc.

The Odd Box Weekender is fast approaching. We've got 21 bands over 3 days at the start of May. Including the 1st show (in 5 years) from the reformed The Manhattan Love Suicides. Weekend passes close to being sold out, too.

The 100 Club Series Vol.2 is close to being sold out on Subscription. So act fast. We have individual copies of each release too. These are selling fast. We have 19 Sock Puppets, 22 Dog Legs, 29 King of cats, 26 City Yelps and 22 Bloomer 7s remaining. Super limited edition of just 100. The first 3 7s should be ready for posting in early March. With City Yelps and King Of Cats following in April.

Vol.3 of The 100 Club Series will be out between July-Dec'14. We've lined up 5 more terrific acts for this volume: The Manhattan Love Suicides, Chorusgirl, Heathers, Year Of Birds and Sweet Benfica.

And the latest 2 singles by The Wolfhounds are close to selling out. Just 300 of each pressed. We've got 80ish copies of 'Anthem' and about 50 copies of 'Divide & Fall' remaining. Again available via our bandcamp.

So yeah, go buy a record, come to the Weekender.... support your DIY scene.

Here's the front design for the very limited edition Odd Box Tees that are going to be on sale soon (available at the Weekender too).

The Tees will probably be white with black print. There will be a print on the back that says 'GETTING ODDER'.

If you want one just indicate the size you'd like (S-XXXL)...

(any takers?)
