I was checking through an old calendar today and realised that for three or so years a couple of years ago I was going to gigs around twice a week. It's dipped markedly since then though. Having family responsibilities doesn't help but some of it is becaus eI don't go to certain larger venues (Academy, Astoria, etc) and some of it is because others that I used to be at all the time now don't put on the gigs that interest me (the Barfly) or have disappeared (Garage, Spitalfields Arts Cafe)... Camden now seems to be a wasteland compared to the old days and most gigs seem to be in east London/the City area which is not always great for getting back from.

I also struggle to hack getting up at 7 daily if I've been out till gone midnight the night before (yes I know that'll be old age). So... how's your gig going these days?

I've picked up a bit recently, what with having quite a lot of work overnights in London to fill and having found someone up here who's prepared to come out with me - still probably only works out at about 1 or two a month though

I go to about three or four a month maybe more. And that is me cutting down!

2 or 3 a week for me. Sometimes upto 4 or 5, sometimes as low as 1. But on average 2/3 sounds about right. Also I don't go to many big gigs these days at the Carling Sponsored venues.

As for other venues. The more in the east, the better. Camden's a shit hole and I'd rather not go there if I had the choice. Brixton has 3 decent smaller venues (Grosvenor,Jamm, Windmill) but it's always a treck to get home from - even more so now the Victoria line has gone tits up Mon-Thurs until about Christmas.

Love the luminaire as well. But it's a pain for me to get home from.

What London is missing is many decent under 100 venues for small gigs. I can only think of a couple this size.

Don't go to the Astoria again, Tasche boy. That's one of the few venues I can find. I said i'd never go back there when my sister broke her foot there but i've been back there since.
