Can't remember all the labels but hope it's Franz F simply because Domino is a true independent label. |

I can't see how Micky Streets is favourite to be honest. Loved the first album but find this one boring in the extreme and lyrically uninspiring. Still they're bound to pick something crap like in previous years in a "let's pick something that nobodies heard of so we can pretend we're the 'serious' music awards" kinda way. ![]() All awards ceremonies are bollocks if you ask me! |

I'll second that Bananas. I want the Franz boys to win though - just because I've never tired of their album - if not the Zutons - because they're whacky and I really love some of their tunes. As long as Winehouse does not win... ![]() |

B&S's is the album amongst that little lot that I've played the most but I'd be quite happy with FF. |

I rule. And it's all thanks to the Mercury Music Prize. I’ve managed to predict the winners for the past 3 years but have never placed a bet on the thing so I decided it was time to cash in on my amazing prophetic skills and opened an account with Ladbrokes. As luck would have it they were doing a special offer on Saturday where they give you £20 of betting coupons if you place a £20 bet on the horses. As I was planning to bet almost that much anyway I took advantage of it and played safe (knowing feck all about racing) putting my £20 on the 6/5 favourite in that day’s big race, the King George VI. And it won! So I made £24 profit, making £64 in total from my original £20. Get in! As to my Mercury thing I put £12 on Belle and Sebastian (very good odds and I think they’re the dark horse(s) here) and £5 on Joss Stone (who I have never even heard before but who fits the ‘youngest and newest’ profile of your typical winner and also had good odds). Just remember, for the top tips, come to Muir. |

On the subject of gambling..... Tomorrow's probably the only time worth registering as a potential phone contestant on ITV's The Vault. The prize fund has now risen to £1.1 million pounds (ie. the largest prize in UK TV history) and I know they're desperate for somebody to win it this week so as they can get the prize fund back up to £500k before the end of the series. Also the final round questions are gonna be a piece of piss! ![]() Not that I've got inside information of course........ just speculating! ![]() |
