Excellent thread. This is one where the old bastards can say to the young scrotes: I was there! (within reason of course - we're not that old). But the Pixies were as awesome as Jose imagines! My time travel gigs are: Thirteenth Floor Elevators, Avalon Ballroom SF 1966 Velvet Underground, The Dom, April 1966 MC5, Clitheroe Castle 1972 Joy Division, Futurama Festival Leeds, 1979 Sex Pistols, Free Trade Hall, Manchester, 1976 I wouldn't mind going back to last year to get a ticket for Sufjan Stevens at the Barbican as well! |

Some chose more than five! They broke the rules, José! I'm gonna throw the jackson five into the mix then because they were pretty amazing. And I would've liked to have seen Jackson touring with his Off the wall album. |

"Sex Pistols, Free Trade Hall, Manchester, 1976" Good call Johnny Anarchy, we could have all kicked the shit out of Simply Red and met the Buzzcocks, Magazine and Joy Division that way. |

No year or venue but these would be good: Joy Division The Ruts Orange Juice/Josef K or any Postcard Alldayer!!! Original Buzzcocks line up Elvis in the 50's - would have been interesting. |

- the beatles circa help - the band's first gig at winterland (NOT the last waltz) - the stones at altamont (also get to see the flying burrito bros support) - dylan going electric in 66 - anything off the 1991 sonic youth/dino jr/nirvana "the year that punk broke" tour. i'm toying with replacing the stones with something like an early modern lovers gig as i'm just not THAT big a stones fan. i just thik it'd be cool to be there though. |
