Yeah i've always kind of found it weird that he 'admires' his country from a safe distance. If he loves his country so much why isn't he here? I don't think that he's a racist though just because he romanticises about his country or dreams of a time when To be English is not to be baneful To be standing by the flag not feeling shameful, Racist or partial...heh. It's interesting.
I think that he's returning to this whole it's ok to love your country as long as you're not english idea. I really believe that other countries can embrace their flags without shame and yet we're made to feel terrible if we wave a union jack or say God save the queen. I've had so many rows about this in the past and have been branded a racist for daring to say that perhaps we should celebrate George's day (even though he's greek) but that doesn't stop us celebrating Paddy's day (even though he's welsh)
Anyway back to this soldier - I haven't heard anything about this. How does he find the time to blog? Shouldn't he be killing people? Prioritise...
