Talk of Masterchef Goes Large (which I love too) on another thread makes me wonder what other programmes are out there that we know no super hipster like us should like, but, er, do. Me first... Dragon's Den. |

Judge Judy - i'm bloody hooked. She's what I aspire to. I could live without a telly though. I listen to music and read - i'm a boring bitch really. Only Ugly Betty could make me fight for the right to watch the box. |

Top Gear. It's like The Goodies with fast cars. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Angel. A recent addition, since Sky stopped showing Buffy non-stop in the afternoon. It's like methadone compared to Buffy's crack (ooh-er) - not as good, but it'll do. Harry Hill's TV Burp. Actually, not a guilty pleasure at all - it's one of the funniest things on TV. Bones. Complete shit and I hate myself for watching it. But I do watch it. Endless bloody football matches that I don't care about in the slightest but I watch because, er, because it's men kicking a ball. Oh, and it numbs the pain of existence. |

I'm also developing a nasty habit for those "Police State! Camera! Action! Resistance is Futile!" CCTV progs. Sky's version is notable for its rabidly authoritarian voice-over which is delivered by a young Manc geezer who uses words like "numpty" in an effort to make police surveillance "fun". While watching, I'm always rooting for the crooks to get away - when I rule the world I'll outlaw thermal imaging cameras in helicopters because they give the fuzz an unfair advantage. My all-time fave, though, was a US clip that showed a guy running amok in a tank. He was knocking over lamp-posts, flattening cars and generally causing a glorious amount of havoc. Unfortunately, the tank got stuck on a highway divide and the police shot him dead. But, come on! Everyone would like to do that once in their lives, wouldn't they? |
