Nah - I'm led to believe - and correct me if I'm wrong - that vinyl is the fastest increasing format for music sales. If complacency and a deluded sense of being sacrosanct means that some record stores go under, then it may be their own fault. Having said that, yes, of course, it's awful that 'proper' stores like Reckless have closed, and are being usurped by the likes of McTescos.... Goes without saying. |

7" vinyl sales are certainly increasing only because the major stores are restocking the format by so called alternative bands. I guess this is because they are trying to claw back ground lost to the supermarket chains on album sales. However that still doesn't address the decline of the independent record shop! As for Reckless they simply priced themselves out of existence. Why pay £8/9 for a second hand CD when the same money or a quid more could get you a brand new one? |
