I can't say I'm surprised about Ballack nor Shevchenko really working out.

I thought that Sheva was a TOTAL waste of money to be honest. Pushing 30 (if he wasn't already) and not the sort of player to really settle in quickly to English football...certainly doesn't have age on his side either. He might do a Drogba next year, but I'm not convinced. There's rumours of him getting dropped if he doesn't score against Wycombe...no pressure then!

Thought Ballack was a bit of a Roman buy as well.

To be fair though, it all smacks of the bog standard tabloid ganging up that you get across the board...it's not like there's been much transfer action of note yet this month...

my partner has the seaso ticket next to me at upton park, and is in many ways much more committed than i am
this is great because it takes away one of the potential sources of conflict, and of course is something we do together

It makes me sad to see this happen to Chelsea, I grew up having a soft spot for them with John Bumstead, Kerry Dixon, Tony Cascarino and Steve Clarke were big names there. There's not one Chelsea player I like now. Maybe John Terry. That said, I hope this is the beginning of the end of the Roman Empire, it'll be nice when they become an Arsenal or a Tottenham again.

Stick Baros in a Czech shirt and he is one of the best international strikers around right now. Stick him in a Liverpool or Villa shirt and he hasn't a clue. Looks like he is heading for the Bundesliga which I reckon is more suited to his game.

Talking about German Football, Sebastian Deisler the best German Footballer by a mile of this generation (forget Ballack) has had at the age of 27 due to knee injuries. No wonder the poor sod is a depressive.
