The new download charts will begin on and is hoped to revive the dying singles market. Interesting to read that the first Pixies track in 13 years, "Bam Thwock", currently heads the test chart. Will this mean a more varied chart in future? I doubt it as most of the sheep will head to the horrible sites like Virgin, Big Noise, Coke etc powered by the even more horrible OD2 service with their crappy windows media audio files which they have the cheek to say has CD quality at 128 k/bits. Hopefully Itunes, which has better quality files with aac/mp4, will balance things out once they sign the indies up. |

I don't bother with p2p anymore. Fed up with viruses, trojans and in the end getting a poor quality crappy file, wrongly labeled! I buy online to supplement my normal CD intake. I mainly use allofmp3 which means I can pick up albums for less than a price of a pint or two. This allows me to hear stuff I would not normally bother buying. I also use e-music and bleep. More on the online services including allofmp3 can be found at I am not bothered about packaging anymore. It's the same argument when people refused to buy CD's because vinyl had better sleeves and inserts. Sadly I remember those days! My PC is connected to the stereo and I now listen to more music now then I ever did! Mind you you cannot roll a joint on a mp3! ![]() |

Just been nosing around , another Russian download site. You can download the latest Cure album for 86 US cents and they also have the Orbital "Blue" album which is not even released in the UK yet. MP3's appear to be in the high quality -alt preset standard with no DRM. According to what I have read the site is legal in Russia and maybe legal in your country depending on local laws. More on |
