Humms News! Vinyl edition (Bachelor Records, Austria) has just come into stock. There are only 250 vinyl copies in total, 60 went to the USA. 20 to Odd Box. My copies are going up on the site for sale later this evening. Don't be a dummy - you need to get this superb record on vinyl. The vinyl edition is a little shorter featuring 14 songs (whereas the CD has 18 ). But it is still an amazing LP.

They'll be online later this evening. I don't expect them to last long.

Some exciting news:

The first Odd Box Singles Club is getting closer. After hearing so many wonderful bands during the past 12 months we decided we wanted to release as many of them as possible on beautiful 7” vinyl. So the idea for the singles club was born. It also made sense to make all these 7” singles – split singles so we could cram as many of these wonderful bands onto the Singles Club. So coming in 2011 are 6 singles with 12 bands cherry picked for your pleasure. All with exclusive songs, to be found nowhere else apart from these super limited 7″ singles.

We are dead excited that this singles club is coming together. There are only going to be 400 of these hand numbered copies. And they will be available to pre-order in September/October. The first batch of three 7” singles will be ready for shipping in early 2011. These singles will not be available in the shops. The only place you can get a guaranteed numbered copy of all 6 singles is by subscribing to The Singles Club. For all those that order early there will be a discount, too. So keep your eyes and ears peeled for further announcements (the offer has already been sent to Odd Box Mailing List subscribers - PM me for details).

So who have we got lined up for you? The first 7” will feature THE BLANCHE HUDSON WEEKEND and HOROWITZ and other releases feature some of the best up and coming bands we have had the pleasure of discovering in 2010: GOLD-BEARS, THE HAIRS, BRACELETTES, SANTA MONICA SWIM AND DIVE CLUB, ONE FATHOM DOWN, RADIANS and THE VIGNETTES. If this wasn’t enough we’ve found room to squeeze in long time Odd Box crushes THE GIVE IT UPS, THE MEDUSA SNARE and THE HUMMS.

Over the next few weeks/months we will be doing a little feature (over on oddboxrecords.com) on each of the bands that will be taking part in the singles club so you can get to know the bands and their sounds.

the summer sale has just ended - hope you were able to snap up a bargain or two!

Gearing up for the next releases now:

The Understudies - wanting vs getting EP coming at the end of October. In deluxe card packaging, too. This EP is ace.
Various Artists -Broadcast One: New Music Handpicked By Dandelion Radio - a 13 song LP full of exclusive songs and session tracks chosen by the folks at Dandelion Radio. There is gonna be a launch show at RoTa in Notting Hill on 20th November too.

And the early bird on the Singles Club still has a few copies left before all the super cheap copies are gone. More info .

And early next year you can expect releases by Sarandon, Baaneex, Boundary JIM and Sock Puppets.

Some good deals. I've snapped up the One Happy Island album. Played a couple of their tunes on the show but don't have the whole album.

first review, that I've found for the new Sarandon LP over on the ORGAN

http://www.organart.com/organthing098.html

It was actually 'Thing' of the day yesterday.

"They wanted to make exciting, snappy, itchy, uncontrollable pop music and so they do”, so says their biog. Their biography is right, they do, if you really need to find who this classic English post-punk new-wave no-wave wrong pop band, I could tell you more but any fool can regurgitate an on-line biog and quickly ‘remember’ to namedrop Bogshed and the Crayola connection or Big Flame, but you can hit the link and explore for yourselves of course - they’re worth it, this is memorably good.. "

£4 | OUT NOW | http://bit.ly/OddBoxShop

★ BOX006 - SARANDON's AGE OF REASON - LP/CD ★
Sarandon return to the fray with nothing other than a concept album.
Flying the flag for Prog Rock? Maybe. Still annoyed by Twee Pop? Definitely.

Musically Sarandon have moved their sound forward – Produced once again by the inimitable Anthony Chapman (Collapsed Lung, Bis, Klaxxons, Ten Benson), the sound is a more mature take on the angular agit-pop of their previous outings. The cheese-wire treble of the guitars remains, the bass thuds and booms and the drums clatter at light speed, but the songs contained in “Sarandon’s Age Of Reason” are more carefully crafted and arranged. There are songs to make you shout and songs to make you sing. There are even songs to make you dance.

Sarandon are back with a vengeance. Back to rescue you all from the mundanity of modern la-la-love-you indie pop.

Other guests on the album include Robert Lloyd (The Nightingales) and Rhodri Marsden (Scritti Politti).

£8 CD |28th March | Pre-orders online now - http://bit.ly/fmo9Gc
