Ah there's always The Globe on Morning Lane too! Do love that place although spending all day in there will mean you come out smelling of chip fat... Always one decent well kept pint in there. Adnam's Ghost Ship usually.

The Kenton's a decent enough pub actually. Was in there last week in fact! Not really that hipster-y - seems like a standard pub to me with a mix of new and old clientele. Although £4.10 for a pint of Landlord! Bit of a scandal.

Haha! I'll make sure I'm out of town for that Bola. I don't really moan about Hackney changing (as a middle class lad from out of town I'd be in the ultimate glass house on that score) but I do take umbrage with the claim there are 'twice as many pubs' in Clapton now than last year! That's a bit offensive! I don't blame anyone for wanting to avoid drinking in The Windsor Castle before it got ponced up (although nor do I understand why anyone would want to drink in it after!) for instance but to say that is pretty stupid...

Bola! The Jackdaw and Stump's gone!

http://www.jackdawandstar.co.uk/

Taken over by those responsible for The Star of Bethnal Green (formerly The Pleasure Unit) and The Star of Hackney Downs (formerly The Three Sisters).

While I miss The Pleasure Unit's charm, they have done a pretty good job with it it has to be said. The Hackney Downs one is fucking awful though...

Let us know what the Adam and Eve's like. Looks like they've gone to town with it with an excessively poncey menu and everything. Got a fair idea of what the Jackdaw will look like given The Star's past ventured but I'm not sure when it's opening...

Anyway Bola we've moved out of Hackney now! Now in Trev's neck of the woods in Leyton...

Finally got down to Homerton last night joined by Student.

The Plough. This place has gone right downhill. Music blaring (it's vinyl so it has to be cool yeah) despite only a handful of people being in there and the beer quality (in this case Hackney Brewery American Pale Ale) was poor. We didn't stay long.

The Jackdaw and Star. This used be the main pub of the local West Indian community (Cricket and Guinness 24/7) and was the only pub I have seen a fight break out over dominoes. Barman treated us like we were his mates (not many come in people then?) and despite having three hand pumps all three were off due having them serviced. They did have three local micros on Keg and the Five Point Pale Ale was delicious slightly edging Students Beavertown Neck Oil. Not much change from a tenner for the two. I will go back when the cask beer is back on to give it another go. The menu had grass fed lamb on offer. Not sure what they normally eat! Sadly I am not sure where the West Indian community has now gone to drink given the lack of any non white faces.

The Adam & Eve - my main drinking hole in my late teens and early twenties. The pubs beer and food has strong links with Cornwall with four Cornish and two local Hackney brews on offer. I have to say it has been renovated pretty well and the wall between the public and lounge bars being taken down is genius. Beer quality was okay and the pub was hipster free in the main. Worth another visit.
