'Ere Dooks have you got Maria McKee's album Life is Sweet? Think it came out about 8 years ago... She went all mad and PJ Harvey esque man - far removed from the sweetie doing 'Show Me Heaven' and all that... Seriously she's getting some fucking demons out on that record...

i don't have that one but i'll dig it out. i've heard some great stuff of hers. that show me heaven tune off that film is a bit misleading really. she was right there doing the proto alt-country kinda thing before anyone really called it that.

Yeah, i love the Mary Chain too.

I see Carter in a different way that all of the other bands of that time.

In a way they were music indistry Guinea pigs for bands like the keisers and and Blur etc coming from indie backgrounds and then signing to a major having all the press and headling Glasto and doing the number one album thing.

I admit they made big mistakes, but i swear to god i've never been to a gig where everyone sings every word! some fella even has a tattoo of all of the lyrics to sheriff fatman all down his back.

They only have 30 seated tickets left for Brixton, even if you don't like them you have to agree that's an achievement, given all the possitive press and respect from the music mags they've ben given in the last ten years.

I remember EMF doing a rollocking cover of Iggy's "Search & Destroy" ...

But I hated all that Carter / PWEI / Neds Atomic Dustbin period .. it really was lacking in any real verve or charm ...

How can anyone say the first wave of Britpop – early Suede, Blur, Supergrass, Radiohead, Common People-era Pulp – was not a major and much-needed improvement.

Even Menswear seemed quite good by comparison
