Somehow Odd Box have joint released a cassette. It features this little known beat combo called Martha. It's available to order now.

http://www.oddboxrecords.com/release.php?id=55

There are only 120 of these. And Odd Box only has 45 of them. They are going to sell out, quick, sharp so don't be a dummy and miss your chance to, like, y'know get one.

It's proper ace, this.

Is it available on 8 track cartridge? I haven't caught up with these current trends yet.

The return of the Odd Box Singles Club in 2013.

Crackle! Fuzz! Pop!

This time it's coming out on CD.
There will be 8 EPs released over the course of 2013.
There should be 3 songs on each EP.
There will be 89 subscriptions available.
They will cost £24 (plus postage) for the whole lot.

Crackle! Fuzz! Pop!

The first three bands to be announced as being on the club are:

Noun Verb Adjective - http://soundcloud.com/nvadj
A mysterious new band. Very little information online about them - save these wonderful songs on Soundcloud. We're super excited to hear what they come up with for the singles club.

Good Grief http://goodgriefliverpool.bandcamp.com/album/songs-2012
From Liverpool, England. Pop punk of the highest order. They have three demos streaming over on bandcamp. There will be new songs on the Singles Club EP.

Young Romance http://soundcloud.com/young-romance
Paolo and Claire are Young Romance. They write about love and doubt and dislocation, wrapping up their words in a layer of fuzz and distortion. And we love them. We love them so much. They first played for Odd Box in early 2011. They stole my heart. They then played Indietracks and stole everyone elses. Beautiful pop music.

There will be badges again and possibly other goodies. You'll have to wait and see.

We will be announcing more of the bands that will be in the club in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

It's up for pre-order now: http://www.oddboxrecords.com/release.php?id=57

Latest Odd Box goings on:

T.O.Y.S - EP 2
(CD edition of 200) (ODD035)
Delighted to welcome T.O.Y.S to the Odd Box stable. A three piece from Leeds and London. Formed in 2010. This is their 2nd release. The first came out on Dufflecoat Records and sold out in super quick time. The band are David Kitchen (Vocals and Keyboard), Adam John Miller (Bass) and Eddy Lines (Drums). The band make take indiepop and twist it through a krautrock filter. The EP comes in a card sleeve and is ready for despacth now.

Ace Bushy Striptease - Outside It's Cold Just Like The Inside Of Your Body And
(300 edition on Blue Vinyl LP with download code) (BOX014)

Ace Bushy Striptease are a five-piece indiepop group from Birmingham. Started five years ago as a distractionfrom the final year of university, they have grown up slightly over time from a wide-eyed mess into the semi-coherent, rough and tumble cuddlecore behemoth that is shambling round the country currently. The band have recorded an album a year since their inception, each a curt blast of enthusiasm barely scraping the twenty minute mark. 'Outside It's Cold Just Like The Inside Of Your Body And', their fifth full length, is nearly half an hour of thrashing, shouting football references and attempts to harmonise. It's not a massive progression but you can tell they've learned their instruments a bit better this time round.

The first 50 orders get a bonus 'best of' 2007-2011 which contains 27 choice cuts from their first 4 releases. Released on 5th November. Pre-orders being taken now.

The Blanche Hudson Weekend - Deep Thrust EP
(CD edition of 200) (ODD039)

The Blanche Hudson Weekend preview their soon to be released new album 'How Many Times Have You Let Me Die?' with a 3 song EP - featuring 'Consume Me' from the forthcoming LP and 2 brand new exclusive 'B' sides (Driven and Some Kind Of Freedom). This is a numbered run of just 200.

To be released on 12th November. Pre-orders being taken now.

The Wolfhounds - Cheer Up
(7" single, edition of 300) (ODD038)

Formed in the early 80s (no one quite knows when, as the process was somewhat random and organic), the Wolfhounds became one of Britain’s most persistent and consistent underground bands in the latter part of that decade.

Having curtailed their activities in 1990, the band occasionally reconvened from 2005 for the occasional live show, but 2011 and 2012 have seen a renewed vigour, with more live shows and new material beginning to be written and recorded. In their first incarnation, the band recorded four albums (nothing if not prolific, their last three LPs were recorded and released within the space of one 16-month period) and many singles and EPs, as well as appearing on the legendary C86 cassette which was distributed free withNew Musical Express in 1986. Three sessions were recorded for BBC Radio One’s John Peel Show.

Long term fans will not be disappointed by their new single Cheer Up, a twisted but naggingly catchy return to their guitar pop roots. Released on 26th November, pre-orders are being taken now.

________________ _ ________________ _ ________________ _ ________________ _ ________________ _ ________________ _
You can stream all of these releases over on our page or you can order direct from us in our . Other recent releases by Martha, Ace Bushy Striptease (again!), Pale Man Made and Anguish Sandwich are still available too. And we've only got 38 pre-orders left of the Singles Club - Crackle! Fuzz! Pop! (featuring Noun Verb Adjective, Good Grief, Year of Birds, Young Romance, Yucky Slime and City Yelps. Once these have gone they're gone. We're not pressing any more!

I've subscribed to the Singles Club for 2013! But why 89 subscriptions? David Gedge's age? The number of times you play Belle & Sebastian before you become a psychotic killer?

I am delighted to welcome Tyrannosaurus Dead to the Odd Box stable. We've just agreed to put out their next 6 song 12" EP.

"Pure // Apart" will be hitting the shops in May. The band are also playing the first Odd Box show of 2013 at Ryans Bar on Saturday 2nd February (with Fever Dream and T.O.Y.S). We will have the EP up for pre-order in February as well. This will be limited edition EP of just 250 copies. The record will come with download code for the songs as well.

We will have a song from the EP for preview on Monday. In the meantime check out their fabulous back catalogue over on - they've released an assortment of cassettes on the awesome Reeks of Effort collective including a split release with Gum and The Hundrendth Anniversary.

The 100 Club Series has just been announced:

will be a rolling series of white label 7" singles.

The first single will be out in the summer of 2013.

The first bands announced for the seires are Flowers and Fever Dream.

CLUB001: Flowers are the latest indiepop sensastions to emerge from London. They’ve got their debut 7” coming out on Cloudberry Records and Fortuna POP! has already snapped them up in the UK. So we’re delighted they are doing this exclusive 100 Club single for Odd Box. We first encountered them back in the summer of 2012 and they’ve toured Europe with The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart. They played a show for us back in September and they blew everyone away (it was the 2nd ever live show, too!).

CLUB002: Fever Dream is a trio from East London. Their debut EP was released on Under Used Records last year. They make blissed out guitar pop – which walks the line between shoegaze and post-punk. They will be recording exclusive songs for their 7” in the coming weeks. They’ve played a fair few times for Odd Box and we’re stoked that they’re going to be part of the 100 Club Series.

Once the first 5 singles are done and dusted - the series will continue with the opportunity to resubscribe offered to those who subscribed to the first batch of records before being offered to new subscribers.

You can subscribe to the first 5 singles for just £22.50 (plus postage). Only 50 of these 7” singles will be available for subscription. The subscribers will get extra goodies which we are dreaming up. The remaining 50 copies (of each individual single) will be available to buy for £5 each (plus postage.)
