Hmm we can all debate whether 7 grand's money well spent on Cherie's hair for the run-up to the last election but, erm, what did they buy for £3600 for Michael Howard? A coffin?

er,anyone else think the argument is lost slightly when the main quotes against any expenditure on makeovers are from Anne Widdecombe...?







I mean, let's be honest, she's obviously attempted one too. But, er, failed.

Does anyone know how much was spent on the electoral campaigns overall? I'd be interested to know seeing as they've been asking for public money to help pay for them now.

I can't for the life of me understand how Cherie spent £275 on her hair each day and that's coming from a girl who spends a lot of time and money trying to conquer the frizz ball that is her hair.

She can't have got her hair cut every day, even if she had a wash and blow dry every day she couln't have spent that much. Maybe if she had a really expensive blow dry twice a day - but then that would take up so much time, how on earth would she get round to helping with the campaigning?

Yes, such trivial things occupy my mind..

I can only imagine that the expense wasn't simply hair but the cost of having a hairdresser travel with them all over the country during the campaign. There would have been a budget allocation made at a meeting very early on, Tony would've signed it off without really reading it and off they went to campaign. As usual, guttersnipes masquerading as journalists decide on our behalf that this yet another "outrage" and the people of the home counties harrumph, tut and spit bile at that independent, successful career woman whose main crime is to be married to the man who happens to be Prime Minister.

In my opinion, Cherie Booth is unfairly picked upon, sneered at and downright reviled by the very people who should be showing (at the very least) respect and admiration for her ability to simultaneously be at the top of her profession, be a great mother to her children, be a devoted wife and friend to her husband and still, God love her, actually bother to try as hard as she does to look glamorous for the bitches and begrudgers who appoint themselves as "style" gurus. It can't be easy for her but it is bloody easy to sneer.

Its been said ten thousand times before but image is important. Be it in politics, music, extreme celebrity gardening.. or what have you. Thatcher wouldn't have become PM without her makeover and vocal coaching. The Strokes wouldn't have been even half as popular if they wore sweat-tops, jogging bottoms, white socks and trainers and the opposite being that The Arctic Monkeys wouln't have been taken seriously if they wore trendy suits and skinny ties.

Do I have a point? erm... well, a certain strong image can fool people into believing whatever they're told but if its a forced projection then that has to be the work of evil beings.

Yeah, that made no sense.... is it time for beer yet?
