One of the more irritating examples is early 70s Bowie where he actually sounds like an American singing in a bad cockney accent (maybe that's where the emo-crowd got it from). Not only that, but he peppered his lyrics with cringe-worthy references to "cats" and "dudes" and other American things that sound strange coming from a young Brixton lad.
