Plus, it was easier to be in a band back then coz the Government pretty much demanded young people spent several years on the dole (£600 per week at current prices) before reluctantly agreeing to let them do some work. Then "the kids" went and ruined it all by forming Emerson Lake & Palmer; Ted Heath had an immediate change of heart and told OPEC to hike up oil prices. A golden age came crashing to a close.
