Spanning five decades and 40 years, NME ORIGINALS: MOD features THE WHO, SMALL FACES, THE ACTION, THE CREATION, SPENCER DAVIS GROUP and all the other major ‘60s luminaries, as well as documenting the mod revival era of THE JAM, LAMBRETTAS, CHORDS, SECRET AFFAIR, PURPLE HEARTS and more. Bringing the magazine right up to date, the magazine examines how mod reinvented itself for the ‘90s and 21st Century with BLUR, OCEAN COLOUR SCENE, ACID JAZZ and THE ORDINARY BOYS.
It also includes 16 pages of photos of the original mods, shot in 1964 by Terence Spencer, a Foreword by IAN McLAGAN of the Small Faces, an Afterword by PP ARNOLD, and interviews with Chris Farlowe, Jimmy James and Geno Washington.
Raiding the archives of the NME, MELODY MAKER, DISC and RAVE magazine, this special edition reprints many of the vintage articles and interviews alongside some newly commissioned writing by mod journalists PAOLO HEWITT, RICHARD BARNES and PAUL MOODY, while the issue was lovingly put together by well know mod chronicler CHRIS HUNT.
