Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele
The Good Feeling Music of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele Paw Tricks

Article written by Paul M - Jan 2, 2009

Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele
Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele
Don't be put off by the awfulness of the name, Mississippi's Dent May's good time music is worth pursuing. His cheery falsetto'd crooning and tales of girls, parties and friendships, over an eclectic mix of easy listening Tropicalia, barbershop and indiepop is a wonderfully uplifting experience. The ukulele is there, though no more magnificent than the joyous strings, pedal steel and brass and while maybe the odd track drifts dangerously close to whimsy, his world is a far nicer place than the credit crunching reality. If you're a fan of Richard Hawley, Divine Comedy or fancy the idea of a toilet trained Hidden Cameras, this may well be on your wavelength.
