With this slightly disappointing four tracker, Good Shoes don’t seem to have built upon the excellent platform of their marvellous three track debut. The same jagged rhythms, off-key vocals and slightly off-kilter percussion are present and continue to reveal nods to the Futureheads, Maximo Park and Gang of Four. Unfortunately the differences are in the quality of the tunes, meaning you tend to dwell on the deficiencies such as the frontman’s jerky vowel-free pronunciation and the whole shamblingness of it all. Good, but not great shoes, in fact... Maybe time to modify the footwear?
