Single Review

Tunng Magpie Bites/ The Bonnie Black Hare
Nowhere Fast Records 7”

Article written by Ged M
Jan 10, 2006.

A limited single release (1000 copies) on a Dutch label, Tunng continue to ignore genre boundaries. ‘Magpie Bites’ is a mesmerising mix of folky acoustics and busy electronica, overlaying electronic crackles to gorgeous harmonies and producing an effect like a hallucinogenic flashback while watching Camberwick Green. ‘The Bonnie Black Hare’ is a traditional song but the complex electronic patterning and Uncle Ric Wilde’s treated vocals make it sound effortlessly contemporary as well as completely captivating. Another Tunng triumph then.
