The first solo effort by the Gorky’s frontman is a brilliant pop song, a move away from the warm, pastoral stylings of Gorky’s and into light and fluid synth pop. It starts with a fabulous glam-rock Eurovision riff before filling out with all sorts of synth sounds and bizarre claims - “donkeys are like you and me” - and then goes into a sweet Air-type refrain. On the flipside, the quirky ‘Y Mwnci Drwg’ is organ-led and percussive, punctuated by weird monkey chants. As offbeat and wonderful a record as you’d expect from Euros Childs, and a fantastic warm up for the forthcoming album.
