Jim Noir Tower of Love
My Dad Recordings

Article written by Paul M
Nov 27, 2005.

A one-man band from Manchester, Jim Noir has put out three vinyl only EPs, all of which sold out remarkably quickly. Completely devoid of filler, this long player captures those releases on CD (and LP) for the first time and throws in three more tracks as an added bonus. With a keen ear for a sun-kissed melody, Jim cocks a snook at both the po-faced rockers and the posturing face painted eye candy fops. With his Beach Boys harmonies and catchy keyboard driven rhythms, it’s fashion free and delightfully easy on the ear. Treading in parts similar water to the Super Furry Animals, ELO, Badly Drawn Boy, Simon & Garfunkel and of course the original Californian surf popsters, Jim’s glass is most assuredly half-full, captured most appropriately with the lovely Turn your Frown into a Smile. Indeed. So, just as Jack Frost makes his nightly appearances let his nemesis, Jim Noir, and his bright warm pop add a ray of sunshine to your day.
