The band’s name is a reference to the Oprah Winfrey style programme that the serial killer Patrick Bateman watches religiously in American Psycho. Aptly the lyrics to their songs seem to shadow the emotional insecurities of the participants in this fictional TV human car crash chat show (“I just want you to know that I'm pro-family and anti-drug / Because you said that this makes you stronger”). This all contrasts somewhat with the C86 style music, built up from angular chiming riffage, reminiscent of My Favourite Dress era Wedding Present, and topped off with flat male lead and high pitched airy female harmonies. Very promising indeed and bizarrely as yet unsigned.
